Well, life can sometimes be difficult. It can be… weird. Sometimes you think you’d be something, be somewhere. Somewhere beautiful.

But what happens is, you find yourself standing next to a reception desk where a handsome looking dude is looking right at you to make sure he serves you… good.

“Hey I’m Em-” I stop mid sentence. The handsome looking guy is looking at me— right, but not exactly where my face is supposed to be. I follow his gaze to see what he finds so amusing and it’s… my breasts! What the fuck.

“Uh hello!” I snap my fingers in the air trying to get his attention.

“Oh um I’m sorry, how can I help you?” the guy asked, his face a mild shade of red now. I got him good.

“I’m Emma, I’m here for my room… apartment sorry,” I said.

“Apartment umm, right do you have the number?” he asked, getting himself next to the computer screen.

“Yes umm number, I have it wait.” I said, taking the folded paper out of my bag. “Umm its… wow, 69.” I rolled my eyes. This was really going to make things more awkward.

“69?” he asked with a concerned look.

“Yeah yeah, I get the pun its 69,” I said trying to be up front about it. I was not going to be punned around like that.

“No umm its not that,” he said.

“Then what?” I raised my hands in the air.

“It’s not empty yet, the tenant is still in the apartment, they are supposed to move out today,” he said.

“Soo… what do I do now! I have nowhere else to go. My mom isn’t letting me back in,” I said resting my elbows on the desk.

“Well umm… I’m sorry for the wait. Actually, they might be on their way out. All of their stuff is already packed, you can grab the keys from them on their way out,” he said trying to look away with his still blushing face.

“Well awesome. Thank you, Mr.,”

“Steve,”

“Thank you Stevie.” I said throwing a wink in his direction and made my way to the elevator.

“Uh, Stevie,” I turned around.

“Uh, yes Emma!” He said, trying not to look in my direction.

“Were you staring at my a…” I noticed where his eyes would’ve been. “Uh, nevermind, my stuff will be coming… arriving tomorrow, will you please get me when its here?” I said.

“Umm, sure, I’ll get you”

“Thanks, umm, off to 69 I go now,” I said before leaving for the room.

I got into the elevator and made my way to the 6th floor, where my apartment was supposed to be. I walked down the corridor looking at door numbers. Trying to find 69, not that one… jeez.

“There ya go, found ya.” I said stopping near my soon to be apartment. A middle aged lady with reddish hair was bent down, trying to sort through her boxes and giving me a view of her ahem, big behind. “She must be the one” I thought.

“Umm hey,” I said in a soft voice. She turned back looking, noticing that her butt was there for everyone to see. “I’m Emma. Are you the one moving out of 69?” I said, that did sound weird.

“Oh yeah, that’s me. Gracie,” she said, extending her hand.

“Nice to meet you,” I said taking her hand. “How long? I can help with the boxes if you’d like me to.” I said taking a peek into the room. It was mostly empty, guess she had done most of the work already.

“Oh, sure. If you’d be so kind. Grab that blue one there. And… be careful.” she said.

“Sure,” I said moving in to grab the box, “the guy down there said I can take the keys from you, I showed up early.”

“Oh Steve!” she said grabbing the box from my hand. I nodded, “I have them, and you’re not early, I’m most likely late haha.” She let out a small laugh tucking her hair behind her ear.

“Why are you leaving though, the rent seems very reasonable.” I asked trying to pick up another box.

“Oh, you don’t know!”

“Don’t know what!” I said putting the box down. “Am I missing out on a secret here?” I chuckled.

“Not a secret really, but the place is haunted.” she said staring at me.

“What, haunted! Like ghosts? Or demons. For real!” I said, staring right back.

“I knew they wouldn’t tell the new tenant,” she said, “and yes. Ghosts, and-” she stopped mid sentence and looked me exactly where Steve was looking.

“Is she into girls,” I thought to myself. “Go on. They wouldn’t tell me what!” I said.

“Nothing… ghosts you know, boo” she laughed, “will you be living alone here?”

“Yeah,” I gave a short answer. Clearly nervous now. “What do you mean ghosts, like is there some conjuring stuff going on here?” I asked. “I don’t wanna be sleeping with demons.”

“Ah, don’t worry, you won’t be sleeping with demons.” she said.

“Oh thank god,” I said.

“But you will be sleeping with someone,” she said with a very weird smile and an even creepy tone. Laughing a little.

“You’re not helping Gracie.” I frowned.

“Oh sorry, yes the place is haunted, from what I know.” Her expression a little serious now. “I haven’t been here long but I did hear voices at night, the TV turning on. The bathroom tap.”

“Could be just old wiring and pipes…” I said trying to look optimistic.

“Could be,” she said. “Hey I’m just telling you what I heard, maybe you’re right and it’s just that. Old wiring and pipes.”

“Here’s the key, and, haunted or not. Be careful.” she said before handing me the keys.

“How bad is it,”

“What?” She said placing the last box in front of the elevator and pressing the button to summon it.

“The— you know, haunting.” I said moving the boxes inside. “On a scale from one to get out now, how bad is it?”

“Oh umm, maybe a 2, I only ever heard voices, and that too could be just.”

“Old wiring and pipes,” I said.

“Old wiring and pipes, haha.” she chukled. “Maybe I was just hearing things. But still, didn’t give me trouble.”

“That doesn’t sound too bad,” I let out a sigh of relief.

“Yeah, who knows, maybe you’ll like it.” She said before giving me that weird smile again. She definitely was hiding something.

“Take care Emma,” She waved at a confused me as the elevator door dinged close.

“Creepy lady…” I said and stepped into the apartment. It was clean, white, and cold. At least that’s what I noticed.

“Okay Mr. ghost, time for me to move in. Don’t make me regret it now.”
